In 1978, Frank and Maria opened their salon. Meet Maria - she embodies the soul of Framar and provides the strong foundation for the company today. For the first 20 years, Maria was a one-woman show, running everything from production and sales to packing each order by hand. 35 years after taking a leap of faith and creating this company, Maria still serves as Framar's President, remaining intricately involved in all aspects of the business.

Maria created Framar out of the back of her husband Frank's salon in 1986, becoming the first in Canada to create foil made specifically for hair stylists. With every #framar post, Framar's family grows as people who love hair as much as the team do, support each other through innovation, creativity, and community. Framar's passionate team pushes the boundaries of the industry to reinvent hair tools.

Framar is a family-owned business, with Maria's sons working in the office every day. In 2017, Maria collaborated with hair artist Guy Tang at the Long Beach ISSE Hair Show.

It's never been simpler or faster to create ready-to-use foils, requiring only one hand to pull, cut, and fold the foil without any batteries or cords. Years of research and feedback from stylists worldwide led to the invention of the Fold Freak, designed to cut and fold foils to any length with one hand, fitting all Framar foil rolls.

Founder Maria Gallo saw an opportunity to introduce hair foil to salons across Canada. Partnering with her husband Frank, they ventured out to educate hairstylists, facing challenges and repeated rejections before turning to distribution, thus birthing Framar. Maria became an over-the-phone sales specialist, working with a network that introduced Framar nationwide without ever meeting many of her customers, some of whom are still loyal to the brand 35 years later.

Once, hair coloring accessories were an afterthought, until Framar arrived. Framar products are manufactured to a superior standard, designed to honor the spirit of the hairstylist and inspire their creativity. The community of hairstylists provides the inspiration to keep innovating, and their enthusiasm fuels Framar's motivation to turn ordinary tools into something that can make someone smile.
